view of my NHX-E1 and NHX-E2 card

Sorry for long reply, here's the photo of NX card I have, its a combination of HX-E1 on top of HX-E2. Firewire/i400 connections are available on the top board (HX-E1) and on the back panel. I use the firewire on top board to connect it with NHX-B10 bay. Windows detect it as HX-E2 and drivers were successfully installed, but when I tested to run ADVC it gives me error message "cannot detect internal DV cable connection with the expansion board" but EDIUS is running OK, except I cannot have superfine project while still able to capture videos from a sony HD cam using the NHX-B10 bay.

I am getting really lost regarding your actual question. It's been suggested you have no where to plug in the black cable that links the two cards. Your photos are not taken from the correct angle to shpow you the location. We need top shot from above the vertical axis.

          Gatot,

I am 100% certain you DO have the connections for the firewire and the optional component output card. It is on "TOP" of the card - you didn't photograph the top part - but - if you take a look at the card, you can see it.

Since you don't have the component output card - it is okay. You just need to connect the Firewire output from the card into an available Firewire port on your motherboard.

This means you have to use S-Video output to do your realtime monitoring.

There's confusion here because of the labels. You have a HX-E2 card because it is a PCI-e board. However there's also a HX-E1 reference on the secondary (attached card) which is by the way not the expansion board. This has me dumbfounded, why is it labelled HX-E1. Perhaps that series didn't know if it was a boy or a girl.

My eyes got crossed just now :-). I thought my spectacles was out of degrees. Maybe it is time we approach the parents of the card - and ask "What sex is this card?" ... hee hee !!!

Thank you ting and all of you who tried helping me out. I think I got myself confused with explanation on the manual telling me to connect NHX-E2 to expansion board which I don't have/doesn't come with the package.

But I still need explanation about the error above "cannot detect internal DV cable connections with the expansion board" when I run ADVC controller that makes me think the NX card is not working at the first place.

                regards,

What do you want to use that card for? I have never used the ADVC controller at all. Can you test if just that card alone can work with EDIUS?

Do you have an onboard Firewire 400 port? You have to connect the output Firewire port on that card to your motherboard - otherwise, you won't be able to use OHCI to acquire your video.

Unless you just want Canopus DV only - it is okay. But HDV requires OHCI to work.

Don't worry about it I get the same message but everything works as far as I have been able to test.

I just use it to capture video from a hd cam using inputs provided by NHX-B10
Edius is working fine except I seem unable to get superfine presets

Just wondering why it keeps complaining while edius works fine

Yes - please explain your "superfine presets" ... don't understand. If you capture HD, then you have to connect the firewire port on the card to a firewire port on your motherboard. AND of course, the audio as well. Other than those two, you don't need anything to be connected.

sorry if i'm late to this post but: when i want to use premiere (for any weird reason) i use ADVC Mode Controller and was getting the box with the "no internal DV cable..." just by accident found that if any othr DV device (camera\deck) was on and connected the box appear... but works fine when there was no other device connected\on... i'm not sure if this wold be the case but you can try.

And also you MUST BE SURE TO HAVE THE INTERNAL DV CABLE CONNECTED BETWEEN THE 2 CARDS... but: i can capture HDV in edius and my NHX card with the deck connected to a firewire on the board, not the NHX...

please excuse my latin english and hope it helps

He does not have the optional Component card - hence no internal bridge cable.

And if does not have the component card I think the card only will only show the SD presets. (no HD IIRC)

But the internal DV cable message has nothing do with the component card not being present.
It is some weird error which had tech support scratching their head.
They honestly said we don't know we'll ask Japan
