I tried to send a 53-minute video out to DV tape using two different cameras, and Edius kept dropping signal within the first few minutes. I noticed the hard drive the project is on is almost full; could that be a factor? What else can I check?

Kevin,
My single drives have a time playing more than one video track.
Quick-fix for a full drive...
Render a DV file of the timeline to the system drive (or another)
print to tape...
if there's room, move the new file to your external drive.Rusty Rogers | Films

Count yourself lucky- you got it to work occasionally-- I'd settle for flashes of my project on tape out-- now I'm re-formatting AGAIN, re-install Win, RE Install Edius- this is the fourth time-- keep getting something different!-- Oh what fun!-- maybe I'll get to rest in a couple more days-- I really miss the solid workings of the old Canopus products--
To give credit, the dongle works-- at this point I can think of other places to put itMain System- HD Storm + Edius 7 Pro

Hi Kevin
It certainly could just be the drive is slowed down by being almost full....however being a laptop I wonder if anything is interfering with the process....by polling the bus or going to sleep....maybe check power management settings of your devices....just a thought.

Enditall
I used to use a program called Enditall on my old laptop.
If I was using it to edit - fine but if capturing or outputting I had to run Enditall first to get anything to work properly.
This was on XP so am unsure if it wil work if you are running Vista / W7.Comment

I had this print to tape problem occur a while back as well. I found that if I had my USB wireless adapter plugged in and running in the background, it would interrupt the print to tape process. I would make sure that you have any unnecessary process stopped before you print to tape. Go into processes and take a look at the list first before outputting to tape. This corrected my problem.Tom Koveleskie - Director/Producer/Editor

I think at this point it would be great to have some more info if the system is indeed adiquate to handle anytime realtime in general.
Could you download this little free app: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
test 1) let it run for a while without Edius, remember to check value's once a while, and reset (but note down) if any high value, normally in red color, and repeat this for several minutes.
test 2) reset the counter, then start Edius and use it for a while check reading periodically.
if test 1 fails, you system is inadequate to perform any realtime delivery, when using Edius it will surely fail.
if test 1 passes, and test 2 fails, your system (software) might be set up right, but hardware through puts are insufficient.
o.k. before we get carried away, please test and report findings ...............
remember, the test app will not report which hardware / software is giving the problem, it only indicates there is a problem and you need to search manually for it.Comment
