Add transition to a group of clips

Does anyone have a problem adding a transition to a group of clips? When I tried to do that, nothing happens.. I have tried unchecking the "extended" clip inside the Apps settings.. This only happens when I have a group of clips... if I did a multiple cuts on a long clip, then the group adding of transition works.. any ideas?? This used to work in my pre-4.54 version. Thanks guys!

Are these clips just regular VA track clips (ie. no splitting audio from video)

When you group your clips - are you just dragging a transition from the effect pallete down to the group, or doing it some other way?
