Need some "gama like" pop...

I'm working on bout wedding number 700.....I'm trying to brighten up things in a poorly lit church. I don't fully understand the steps to do so, I'm guessing white balance filter?....could someone take me thru the steps...Thanks all..Gary (ps it's my daughter's wedding, shot with two canon A-1's)..

I use the same 2 cams and get pretty good footage. If you want to send me a PM I will send you a preset that does the basics for me and you can tweak from there. Nothing earthshattering but it is what I use with some success.

I like the duplicate track and screen technique but it tends to really bring out the grain when I have done it. I will use that technique when I really need to boost a dark scene. For scenes that are a little dark (but not too bad) I have a few other techniques that are just too much to explain.

to really brighten things, duplicate the clip and place it on track above, then add the screen blend keyer to it (in keyer section)

then adjust desired amount of brightening with the opacity rubberband of track 2 clip

And remember CC is done in steps.

It is better to apply the white balance a few times to get the effect then to adjust big in one go.
At least that is our experience. :)

Try white balance filter (mess with the mid level contrast and lower level contrast) in conjunction with the YUV curve

Just remember that if it is really dark, you will see some grain (similar to what raising your gain on camera would do).
