A dying 500 GIG seagate ES class drive in the raid setup. :-o
This is a bit out of the ordinary for me as I have never had a new drive (8 weeks old) fail in this manner.
This was showing many symptoms I assumed were EDIUS related, How wrong can you be.
Drive replaced and system 100% again - Just goes to show what seems to be an edius issue can prove to be something completely unrelated to the software!
Thumbs up for the Rocket raid though, its tools gave me a window to backup before the drive gave up the ghost........................
