In know that you can get buy C++ libraries for handling video files..... heck it's probably possible in Visual Basic.. Are there any (ex)programmers like me out there ?? Maybe we could do something open source ??? Anyone interested ????

The second most beneficial feature of SCLive to me was the ability to rename and move the files around on the drive easily right from the filmstrip interface. It was just a good utility.
I don't need a utility to capture HQ files, Edius does that fine. I need one that will let me easily see contents (like the filmstrip) and catalog/name the files easily. That's all I need.

Rick,
The closest I have found is using the free google utility called Picasa. It allows renaming and moving files around but doesn't have any playback controls for quickly scrubbing a clip to see it's content. You have to just sit and watch it if you need to preview the content.

Bad News:--- Got a reply from Andreas
"Thanks for you friendly email. Still at the moment i have no time implementing a hd version of sclive.
Best regards,
Andreas Winter"

That was because Storm captured in small segments, so you had a lot of clips to select from, while edius captures one long clip......know what you mean,..but I hated that..lol...sometimes deleted the wrong clip and had to recapture.....but since DVCapture was released, I never captured using Storm, but it was good for what you want to do......dont feel bad buddy, just do it my way....takes longer, but you will end up with just what you want.

It a similar way but not quite as convenient as the old Storm way I mentioned, set it going and put the kettle on!
In the old way I could save a file to record which bits I used of a tape and if I needed to re-capture the video for any reason it was just a matter of loading the tape and appropriate file.
It was all so easy.....

I know what this guy is saying, as I do the same sometimes...my solution: place the entire captured video on the timeline, mark the area you want to use with in and out , save as AVI files, eg. AVI 1, AVI 2...etc..., then delete the original captured footage.....that is the only way I know right now, and it works 4 me.

I miss the prog that came bundled with my Storm card. It used to run through the tape in either real-time or fast wind, logging every shot and then providing a list with a thumbnail.
I could then preview the shots using the thumbnail as a guide directly off the tape, select the ones I wanted then tell Storm to capture just those.
I was supprised it wasn't included in an updated form with Edius, as it was so handy.

I would be perfectly content to just capture in Edius to HQ and then fire up scenalyzer to view the content and catalog the clips. I could live with that and be a really happy camper.
Should we start an email campaign? It is a private individual who created it so it may be a matter or priorities and time that is the problem.
(Edit).....I just sent a request to the author from the Scenalyzer site to see if he can make it recongnize HQ files.
I totally agree about the HQ thing, and guess what I emailed him too. So we'll keep out fingers crossed .......
