Holdan an official canopus dealer use the 8600 as base for their systems so it should work.

The problem will be with installation of the HD component output card (if you intend to use it).
The only available PCI slot is too far from PCI-X slot, and the overhead jumper cable beatween them is too short.

I was going to get the 8400, but then came the 8600 so i just took that one.
I did not check that cable to the HD component card, so thad mide be a problem. Is it possible to get longer cable ?
I have been using two X7da8 and I like them.
Now i wana buy complite system for the first time, usualy i build my system my self.
By the way, what Video card do you regomend on the new system.

Good Luck!
Unieng
Hi there.
Youre right about this Unieng.
The cable would be to strech beatween them so those cards would put preshure on the mobo slots to the sides.
The GV support asked me to send them pictures of the installatin in the system so they can take a look at this, wich i did.
Wee are talking bout fiew cm, and a bit longer firewire cable would be good also.
By best
Johannes

Hopefully they can provide you with a custom made cable and then make a permanent change, because XW8600 will probably become next platform (XW8400 discontinued) for GVG-Canopus turnkey systems.
i just did send GV support an Email and asked if it would be ok to use the HD/SD Component Output and MPEG-2/MPEG-4 Encoder Module (PCI-e) card wich is for the NX with the SP.
They say this should be OK.
But I need to be 100% on that, I do not wana take any chenses on damage to the new system or the SP, so I did email them again and hope for answere soon.
Or i need to get some tecnical info on that cable and the type of connectors so I can have it custom made for me. But i hope GV will make longer cables.
I did ask them bout the xw8600 before i did buy it and they did confirm that SP will work with no problem with in it´s 133MHz slot. That´s right, it works fine.
But they did say they have not tested this fully as yet with the xw8600, tho however they are confident that this should not be a problem.
So i did get warning on that, I shuld have check this out be for i did buy or wait until this has ben tested. I realy can be so stupid some times, but not to often i hope.
I would say i were to to to to much in a hurry on this one.
i was just to desperate to get new system running so i would be able to finish some projects i have waiting for me.
I have the NX running and its grate, but i need two system with edius running in realtime using HD output.
Some times i would like to be able kick my own as, just like now!!!
I did try, but no good.
My old pal RexRT is not helping me out on this one for sure. :)

18/06 They ordered from Japan or Germany.
14/07 they ask me if the cable is ok, so some time before that they did get the cable to UK, and send it to Reykjavik Iceland and finaly to Isafjordur after Clearance & Delivery, wich mide take some time, sometimes.
But now i thing they have what they need if this is needed.
my best

I was nearly going to consider an XW, but the layout of the slots concerned me regarding fitting the SP and the fact that the HP website offers no mobo manual download for the latest XW, totally made me chicken out and I built a supermicro and I don't look back
