AVCHD in Edius

As was posted before lucky owners of latest AVCHD cameras from Sony (including me) can not work with Edius, since it does not handle native AVCHD smoothly. We also can not use AVCHD to HQ converter as it provides awful results as described before.
This question was already asked but we received no concrete answer, so I'd like to ask it once again - when GV is planning to introduce decision for these problems?

Go to Settings > Plugins and under AVCHD try to mess with the settings.

Also what is your system specs? AVCHD is really taxing on a system, much taxing than MPEG2.

A new version of the converter utility will be released later this week.

Beyond that, you will need to wait until the next major version for any in-application optimisations.

I downloaded the converter, Does it convert .tod files to Canopus HQ? I cant figure out how to use it.

TOD files? Aren't those JVC EVERIO files? I thought those were MPEG-2 based...

please, is there a know, about the new version in contex to the "time\date stamp" ??
the old version swallowed up\remote the "time\date stamp" .... so is it not aviable in the HQ-files

convert from edius timeline\bin i.e. per export etc. the "time\date stamp" is aviable in the HQ-file....

Some initial details (not completed yet).

New features in v2.10:

• A warning now appears if the application attempts to overwrite a file with another of the same name
• The initial destination for converted files is now selectable
• If EDIUS 4.5x or later, or EDIUS Neo is running, files will automatically be saved to the current EDIUS project’s folder
• 24p AVCHD files can be previewed and converted
• AVCHD files recorded in SD mode can be previewed and converted
• Field order and aspect ratio information are embedded in exported files, for use in EDIUS
• AVCHDPRV now supports processing adjustments, based on CPU performance
• AVCHD2HQ will now correctly stop and report an error message when trying to convert an unsupported file (previously it would still convert, resulting in incorrect file export data)

Fixed from v2.00:

• Fixed an issue where files from newer Sony AVCHD camcorders would be previewed/converted with an incorrect color balance
• Fixed an issue where files from newer Panasonic AVCHD camcorders would cause an error when previewed/converted

Thaks, that are greate news! IS AVCHD2HQ going to take CPU perfomance into account as well?

They are eviro files, I still use DV so I tried to use ProCoder to convert them to DV but all I got was a broken up green screen. I found if I rename them to .mpg from .tod it would work (slow conversion though) I was hoping there was a way to convert them straight until I go HD.

EDIUS supports native Everio files. If conversion is needed (for performance), just bring them into the bin and right-click (Convert->File).

But SD MPEG-2 is trivial in modern computing/editing. The only drawback would be the occasional 'lag' of AC-3 audio playback.

The files from my camera are 1080i HD and my quad really has a hard time with them. So I need to convert them.

Tried, new converter - works great! However still has few question. If I convert AVCHD files through EDIUS convert option to HQ online quality the final avi file is twice bigger then avi file created from the same AVCHD source by AVCHD2HQ utility. Why is that happen and what is the difference between them?

Have you tried configuring the Canopus HQ codec using the shortcut that is placed on your desktop? That will let you specify the output quality of the AVCHD converter.
