I set the opacity until it looks right, sometimes as high as 80%

make sure your levels are legal before you duplicate the clip onto V2

darkest part does not go below 0 and brightest part does not go above 100, use waveform monitor in IRE mode with slider at maximum right

I am placing it in the upper track. I just misplaced V1 and V2 positions in the post above. (V2 is above V1)

Just a q-you also use 30% transparency of the upper one or?

you should be placing the blend effect on the higher track, at least this is what I do when I use the screen blend to bring to live dark footage

    Improving video quality?

I read all Edius tips and stuff around this forum (great one, btw-I found a lot of useful information:)), but didn't seen anything like this, so pardon if this is common knowledge, to me-it's new.

    So anyway-

We have one video clip in V2 track. We c/p it in the upper track, V1, and put above the first one.
Then, we put the transparency of the upper one to 30%. (lower the rubber band).
In Keyers/Blend effects folder we drag Overlay to the V1 track.

The result is, well, 'better picture', or so it seems. It's not so good to use it on the darkened videos because the black color becomes too strong (something like over-used Contrast), but using this on the videos with lot of light parts, well...I tried to use it a few times and, at least to my un-trained eye, it looks better, sharper and smoother than original.

What do you think? Ok to use, or maybe you have some alternative?
Working...
