There have been numerous threads regarding HDV ot SD downconversion, but I'm curious about 16:9 SD to HD upconversion.
As we are headed into the DTV age in 2009, I'm thinking about shooting future SD projects in 16:9 or the so named "squeeze mode" so that the video can later be upconverted to HD. I have a mix of SD and HDV cameras at present and will shoot HDV on the ones that are capable of it.
As of now, the only experience I've had doing this is upconverting 320x240 files to 720x480 files using VirtualDub and a various assortment of filters within it which work reasonably well.
What are you using, and what do you recommend to upconvert to HDV from SD? Currently, I will be delivering content on standard def DVD, but AVCHD or blu-ray could be in the future shortly.
