QuickTitler causes runtime error

This weekend I have been confronted with a weird problem: QuickTitler, and sometimes Edius, crashes (causing a Microsoft Visual basic library runtime error: "abnormal program termination") when doing a "Title roll from bottom" when a specific font is used: HoboStd (OpenType Font). No crashing when using the font in a "Still" title.

It took me several hours of uninstalling, repairing, updating, cleaning registry, etc., until I found out that simply choosing another font solved the problem. Retrying the title roll in a new project with the HoboStd font caused the same error again.

Could I have avoided it? Clearly I did not expect the font to be a possible cause. Just curious if someone has an explanation.
