  • Error during tape out

    I got this error message when trying to print to tape too my hv20, my settings are 4x3 pal, I tried to change the project settings as stated in the help file, but nothing happens ?, I have printed to tape before....without any problems, anybody know where I am going wrong ?
    A computer with a lot of stuff in it :)

    Have you set the HV20 to record in SD, if not there will be a problem as the HDV input (firewire) is incompatible with SD,
    Another problem that can occur has the tape been used before and recorded in HDV?.
    Also make sure the tape is not copy protected.

      Yes is set to redord sd dv, the project from edius is sd 4x3, the tape has been used before, but only with sd def 4x3, the tape is not copy protected

        I got it to work, had to do a new project with 4x3 sd settings, then it worked, not sure why my other project didn´t work, it had the same settings ?, only one problem left, it doesn´t seems that the camera read the TC from the timeline, have to check in to that one

          check the camera menu and see if TC can be set to external like the Sony DSR player/recorders

          don't forget to switch back to internal after you are done recording

            I don´t see any option in the menus to set timecode to external of my HV20, ok, I have live with it

              go to application settings, customize, information

              set export timecode to timeline and see if that works with your camera

                    okay, the tab was called information but now it is called overlay

                    in any case, it may not fix your problem but I am curious to see what it is set to

                        as I thought, you won't be able to do it unless the recording device can be set to accept external timecode
