  • anyone experienced this?

after closing Edius, Taskmanager/Applications is empty as it should be

however, Edius and QuickTitler remain in the Process Tab

now if I want to start Edius again, Edius fails to start unless I manually kill the Edius process

this happens around 2 times out of 10, I would love to discover the cause

This has been happening to me a lot. (3 systems)
Sometimes it (edius) is not even in the taskmanager anymore and requires a restart of the system.

Since no one reported it I thought is was something wrong with our system.
I thought it was some kind of weird software combo we had.

The strange thing is that it is not happening on a system which runs vista.

No problems here. Never noticed this one so far. Might be h/w related. Maybe the device driver has to wait for h/w to be released?

I have also experienced this. Have to kill Edius from task manager processes tab before I can restart it.

            Yep, I get it too.
Certainly everytime Edius does the "disk too slow" error during capture.
I just put it down to a bit more sloppy coding, a re-boot at leasts makes me take a break and put the kettle on...

I also have this, if you leave Edius alone after shut down for a minute + it starts ok. immediate restart fails, this only occurs with 4.60 en 4.61.
Same with DV Capture which sometimes only works after a system reboot.

yes, if shutting down PC, it can happen that a window pops that says "Edius is not responding"

so now, I always make sure Edius is gone from process tab before shutting down

btw, I did not have this problem with old PC which was upgraded to 4.61 via many patches starting from version4

the new system has no patches at all and has the full installation of 4.61

I am having this problem with Edius 5: everytime I close Edius (by "X" in RH upper corner of preview monitor) Edius, QuickTitler (even when not used!) and XDCamselect remain as running processes. Edius cannot be restarted without stopping these processes.

Is there a cure for this?

                            Anton,
The only time I had this event happen was when I installed Edius 4.6 .ISO download. I recently redid the system and it no longer happens with installing the 4.0 disc with the latest update.

                              Anton (and everybody else)

I had this problem on day one a week before most of you had EDIUS 5 and I asked you (Anton) and you sent me a updated Vitascene tpi which you said would fix it- and it did.

SO I'm totally perplexed as to why you are asking this question when you provided me the fix in the first place. Who's been on the wine too much, you or me? :) Am i crazy, or was this a misunderstanding at the time and you fixed it unknowingly? Or maybe, it didn't fix it at all and i've just been lucky since?
