You're better off using After Effects, though...you can actually take the audio notes and use an expression to match the property settings to the audio.

Have you looked at proDAD's Mercalli Shaker? I think it comes free with the Mercalli image stabiliser and has a virtually nil learning-curve, unlike AfterFX.

My contribution to that thread was this clip which was a test of (if I recall correctly) keyframed horizontal motion blur to emulate the sub-bass hit effects in a Ludachris video.
