  • User Profile transfer to other PC

    ok, I give up

I built a new PC for a customer and installed Edius Pro and updated to 4.61

I exported my user profile and then selected import on new PC so that I save time of implementing all my usual custom settings

it failed, Edius started with all factory defaults

so, how can this be done successfully? I want to transfer window layout and player, recorder, timeline and bin button customizations

the only thing successful was transferring keyboard shortcuts

Make sure the profile name is not the same as the logon name, that might cause problems.

You need select the profile from the list (right click, import) and then select a project setting and start a fresh project. It's been working fine for me.

      It works fine here Anton.
      How are you importing?

I can even import my profile from my desktop to my laptop . And the dual screen get adjusted to the laptop screen.

so, after you imported the profile to another PC, all window positions, application settings and player/recorder/timeline/bin buttons were the same on both PC?

Yes. But make sure that EDIUS hasn't crashed (it doesn't save it unless it's properly existed) or you exported the right profile. I edit with my own profile on 2 different machines.

correct, I right click in blank grey profile area and choose import, then I browse for Anton.eup

then the Anton user appears and I rename it to my customers name, in this case Paul

then I create a new 16:9 SD DV preset and start Edius, now I see Edius in its factory default state

maybe graphics cards need to be the same?

Nope graphic cards don't have to be the same.

Don't rename it yet . Open it as Anton.
Let everything load choose default directory and such.
Now make a new project under Anton to see that everything is working.
Close Edius, open it and then Rename Anton to MR....whatever.
                    That way it will work.

Now you owe me 2 bottles of wine. :)
One was from long a go. he he
