  • Purchase Edius software then hardware?

Is it possible to purchase the Edius software first, and then later on purchase the hardware cards?

I can't afford the entire package right now, but I can afford the sofware. I'd like to edit some projects (already did the trial version) and then get the encoder cards when I get the money.

    Thanks.

Sorry No, the NX card, if that's what you after is bundled with Edius Pro.

If you Purchase the Software now, later when your ready to purchase the card you have to buy another license of Edius.

The only reason what I can think that justify this marketing strategy is to combat software piracy, because canopus hardware only works with canopus software !

If you are Not looking for a NX card you can always buy an External Canopus box later, without the software.

Sorry, but I don't understand "an External Canopus box." What is that?

Go to http://www.canopus.com/products/videoconversion.php and take a look.

This is by all means no substitude for a NX card !

Still they go from cheap to very expensive.

Oh, video conversion boxes. Nothing like an NX card. Guess my mind just wasn't agile enough to pick up on that. A Pegasus card might be a better NX-without-software substitute.

After a little reading about Pegasus, I retract that statement. Thought it was essentially an HD ACEDVio card. It's not.

As mentioned numerous times in the past, the software is essentially 'free' when purchasing an EDIUS hardware product. In other words, not bundling EDIUS software with an EDIUS NX board would have minimal to no effect on the MSRP.
