My OP? .............. my Original Posting

Remap is N/A? ..... the "Remap -tool" is not aviable (in version 3.62) it is coming with 4.5

please, excuse my "gibberish" english .... it is not my native language, but it will do the job to read forumsposting... *g*

Thanks very much indeed. I hope PeterC and HedleyW are reading this, as both of them do it the laborious 'chop up into small segments' way.
I hope TH + HW read my Edius version in sig and the opening of my OP. Time remap is N/A.

    Just for the record fellas..........

Hey - it looks like you guys have nailed it and I'll go have a play. Yes mattmatt that's exactly what I want to do - go from normal speed to a complete stop - or vice-versa - in a smooth sine wave of time.

To avoid the actual limitation of time remap (remapped clip has the same total length as the original clip) => do the time remap is a sequence => use the sequence and trim the parts you don't need + if necessary adjust the overall speed (length).

As far as I can tell, from this post, you want to gradually slow down footage to a complete stop? That is very possible in Edius - Time remap it is.

Maybe not perfect, but maybe usable?

You can stop with Time Remap, but keep in mind that it has to "make up for lost time" at some point, so at minimum you'll end up with a jump to the final frame at the last frame of the clip.

    I work with E3.62.

For me to get variable speed within the Edius app I cut the clip up and do variable speeds on each.
You have to watch your match frame edits though for possible jump cuts/loss of continuity.
Only way I know staying inside Edius.
    Tedius but works.

forget the "antique " Speed Controller ....

If I remember correct........ it works with the "Time Remap" Tool
try and play a 1/2 hour with it ....ans you will love it .... (not so intuitiv as in PProCS3, but it works......)

I fear this is a lost effect using GV stuff, what a shame, it was a very handy application, so it's After Effects or FCP etc etc, if you need to do this kinda thing outside the DV theatre.

    Ah - I've found it.

but it says, 'Note: Speed Controller works only with Canopus DV AVI files' so does this mean no HDV support? I would dearly love to be able to do this within Edius, and am pretty sure the time remapping won't give it to me.

That's great news Alade! Yes, it was the 'Speed Controller' facility that allowed me to do it in Storm, so will the new one mean I can keep it in HDV now?

I have never used that feature is Edius, but there is a Utility in Product-related download section called 'Speed Controller Utility'....and old utility from 2001, but works well......and since I have it, I always use it ....just have to export the clip, make the adjustments, and save as AVI and reimpotr into Edius,.......or you can do that in Soundforge...I think....haven't done much of that lately

started a topic Time remap - can I slow to a complete stop?

Time remap - can I slow to a complete stop?

I've just left my Storm2 on Premiere 6.5 and moved here with you guys on Edius. Thing is my Storm allowed me to smoothly vary the speed of a clip from normal right down to a still frame. or vice versa. Beautiful - just perfect for the end of a couple's first dance. Is there any way I can do this with Edius's Time Remapping? Lead me gently by the hand on this one!

    TOM.
