    The express card requires 2 pci-e slots,not pci-x... I believe.
After looking at the motherboard, it has 2 pci-e slots. The 16x would be for your video card and the 8x for whatever.
If you had the NX that had the pci-e and pci cards I believe the board would work. The pci-x board definitely would work, if you can find one. That does not have the encoder on board, neither does the pci-e pci setup.

The newer chipsets are not as problematic as the older chipsets and normally will work with fewer issues, if any. But then, there are occasions...

can NX card use for PCI-X slot?

I am use TYAN motherboard S2676 since 2005, I want upgrade to S5396

My Hardware board is "Edius NX for HDV" (old verson , use 64bit/66MHz slot)
The installation manual said that for HD editing use a 64bit/66MHz bus,
64bit/66MHz PCI slot is longer than general 32bit/33MHz PCI slot.
(Remark:I just need one slot for Edius NX hardware board to edit, no need Expansion board)
So, I want to make sure "Edius NX board is work for PCI-X type.
I know that PCI-Express slot is use for display card.
TYAN S5396 motherboard has two PCI-X 133/100MHz slots,
can I use this slot for NX borad?

      Thanks!

      see my NX board photo

Just curious, why do you not need an expansions kit? The NX seems to me to be a bit of a waste without it.

IIRC, you won't get the HD presets without the expansion kit, but maybe I'm mis-remembering...

Either way without the expansion kit, there is no way to monitor HD. You have to edit HD footage in an SD timeline and use the S-Video output to preview.

Expansion kit is a must in my opinion.
