  • Edius X Rendering nightmare

On my Acer Nitro laptop i7-9750 16GB RAM 1920x1080 project @ 50p with latest Edius X it works great until I ask it to render then its pot luck whether it crashes.

Right clicking several clips and asking it to render is guaranteed to upset it.

Event viewer: "Edius.exe App hang unknown module"

It seems something to do with having an extended monitor attached.

I can't upload the crash report as it is now 11MBytes which exceeds the forum 10MB limit. That needs increasing.

      Wetransfer done

      Render codec HQX standard.

This laptop doesn't have Thunderbolt and I have a BMD Intensity Shuttle on there on USB3 and if the CPU is over 70% the HDMI TV out it goes a bit stuttery on the HDMI out.

The project is quite taxing with V4 to V12 active V1-V3 used for construction and I have used Vitascene transitions.

I am on the laptop instead of system 4 in my signature as it has Intel Quick Sync whereas my Xeon beast doesn't and it can't play the iPhone HEVC footage, without converting it first, whereas the laptop can.

The setting for PCC to make the correct conversion to BT709 for the iPhone 12 Pro Max "Dolby Vision" HEVC PQ is SDR gain 17dB in project settings.

I render and add to timeline to make a check on the edit with less CPU load and smooth playout.

I also note if NEAT is used on a clip Edius can still stutter even though it is playing the render and add to timeline file, and is fixed by turning the track off with the effect on. That shouldn't happen as it shouldn't care whats below the top track but it seems it does.

I am attaching a few findings to investigate, but they may mean nothing

there are some possible incompatible plugins

        what is vMix Video Codec?

I also attached the crashes I could find and their reasons like continuum OFX etc.
