  • Motion Drag Editing in a 4K timeline

I'm editing in a 25P timeline at 3840 x 2160 with the footage matching those specs. I'm seeing motion drag in the preview screen when I scroll quickly. It doesn't seem to translate to the exported video, but I don't see this when editing in an HD timeline.

I'm guessing there's something in the projects settings that I'm missing?

what is the file format of the footage? H264? H265? MOV? etc.

make sure full frames is selected at the top right of player. I have seen users set this to 25

Yeah Full Frames has always been selected. Not sure why this happens in a 4k timeline and not HD.

Project Settings and properties of one clip attached.

I'm running off two monitors and was told by a friend I need one monitor plugged into the motherboard display port and the other coming out of the graphics card (I currently have them both coming out of the graphics card) and doing this would have the hardware encoder option show up. However I tried this and I'm not getting a signal out of the display port.

Tried both monitors and a restarted, but nothing. Went into display settings and it won't detect the other monitor.

your clip does not match the project setting

                project setting is 25p
                clip is 50p

btw, project setting should be stereo 2 channel and not 4 channel

I'm aware. Why would that show motion drag though? If I was editing a 25p in a 50p project I would expect it. As mentioned before I don't see the drag in an HD timeline.

Still can't get the hardware encoder option to show.

can you explain your meaning of motion drag? do you mean frame blending or stuttering because of empty buffer?

I personally do not look at the EDIUS preview, I look at the BM output monitor to see the real thing

Looking at a dedicated stream of a supported output device is the best way to monitor the signal. Sometimes things show up in the software preview in EDIUS that don't show up in the output stream or exported file.

It's in the export as well. I've uploaded a wedding guest clapping and you'll see it in his hands.
