Final question, do you know what GOP: Closed means? I've ticked that box as the specs requested it.

Open GOPs can have frames that reference a frame from a different GOP, while closed GOPs have frames that reference only within the GOP itself, so it is better for editing and scrubbing

I always close the GOP on anything using mpeg2 such as for DVD

why were you not able to expand advanced in exporter to access the loudness option? not enough desktop height?

Hi Anton, still going with this edit and in a few days I will deliver 4x 13 minute 1080 50i clips to SBS. The test clip I sent was approved so thanks for your help there.

I noticed on the specs when I checked it out within Edius that the 1080 50i file is only 8 bit. Is this normal? The 1080 50i project though was set to 10 bit.

Regarding accessing the advanced settings, I can access the advanced tab but it won't drop down so that I can change any settings such being able to normalise the audio. That doesnt worry me as I just do it manually in the timeline before exporting.

FYI I have two 27' monitors.

They are asking for XDCAM HD 4:2:2 (must be mpeg2 based) and not Prores in a MXF wrapper

export your timeline to Prores 4:2:2 or 4:2:2 HQ and then open it in 50i timeline

then export to XDCAM HD 4:2:2 with correct -24 loudness enabled, it will automatically create correct levels during export, see attached

Thanks Anton, I have followed those step by step instructions and the sample clip looks great so hopefully they sign off on it. The only step I couldn't do was get access to the box where you tick the -24 loudness. I ended up doing this to the clip in the timeline manually and then exported. I've checked the final clip back in Edius and it looks to be outputting -24db.

Hoping someone can assist here and set me straight to do with outputting the correct specs for a TV show here in Australia. I have attached the spec sheet sent to me from the TV station. I am using Edius X Workgroup version 10.34.9631.

Our small crew has filmed 5 days of athletics and been lucky enough to score a 52 minute time slot for SBS TV. It goes to air on 28th January.

My two questions are what's the best way to convert footage so that we correctly convert from 1080 50p to 1080 50i and also what's the best way to deal with getting audio to the correct volume levels they require for TV.

We have shot everything in a mix of 4k 50p and 1080 50p but the TV station requires to final deliverable to be 1080 50i @ 50 meg. The reason we went 50p when shooting was that were also doing a YouTube live stream. We used vMix and recorded clean 1080 50p content. The 4K content were interviews shot on a Canon C70.

My theory is to edit in a 4K 50p timeline and once edited render out a 4K 422 50p Pro Res in Edius. To convert to 1080 50i I will create a 1080 50i timeline, slip the 4k 422 50p Pro Res clips in the timeline and create a new 1080 50i 422 .MXF wrapper. Video Codec at that point has to be XDCAM HD 422.

Regarding Audio for my YouTube videos that I edit I always get my peak audio up around -6db but for TV it has to be much lower. The big question here is how do I in Edius make the audio comply with the standard they require which is OP59 Lodness Standard (-24LKFS).

Once in the 50i timeline do I need to normalize the audio by -20db (just guessing here) or is this where because I have the WorkGroup version of Edius that I can go in Loudness Meter and tweak away.

NOTE: I have done the above procedure and to my eyes the clip is looking fine. I think its just how to deal with the audio that's the main question I have.
