When working in HD, I have noticed there's a slight, but noticeable difference between using the positioning buttons (up-facing arrow, upper-left arrow, etc) versus positioning things by-hand.

I'm glad you put that out. I was starting to think it was a pal issue.
I have not seen this issue, at least on my machines, and they are all NTSC.

The "moving down"-issue has ocurred with both 4:3 as well as 16:9 source material.
Mostly with 16:9 clips being added to the timelline in a 4:3 project
and thus becoming 4:3 letterbox.
The solution is to use the Layot tool, but it can become a tideous job
correcting the position of each and every clip.
According to the layout tool the clips are always moved 6.x % in the x-axis.
Reloading the project settings seems to correct the problem - but it's a
very annoying bug in the first place.
I'm I missing something in the project settings?
As far as I can see there is no way to change the pixel aspect.
the layout tool shows Y = 0 and X = 0

Guest repliedHi folks,
I've got the same problem, it's a real pain. The real issue of course is outputting files for the web, as players have no safe area so you can't even get away with having a 1 pixel vertical line across the top.
I still haven't worked out a solution - the best I've been able to do is use the layout tool as has already been suggested, however I still can't get it right. Any new ideas? Perhaps it's a bug that needs to be fixed.
Antoine

Lucky the F7 key was mentioned, otherwise this problem would become a long thread before all of us knew what was going on.

when you say the picture moves down, you mean there is black above the image and no black below the image in preview window????
how does it look in preview (left) window before you put it on timeline?
what happens if you drag from bin direct to timeline?
is your project setting 4:3 Pal or 16:9 Pal
if 4:3 Pal, then the image should be 768x576 square pixel in order to fill the screen
if 16:9 Pal, then the image should be 1024x576 square pixel in order to fill the screen
right click the image in the bin and check the properties to see what size it is

picture moves
Well if a dubbel click on a file in the bin window is shows in the left window if a have dual mode an then a drag down the file to timeline the picture moves down. so a must press F7 and move the picture back in postion. the files a import are 4:3 letterbox.
If a Capture files it´s no problem it´s only problem when a import files.

Please clarify "move down"
Which version of Edius do you use ?
what tracks do you use ?, VA or V and how many ?
Did you change settings in the "audio mapping" ?
