  • Project setting to BluRay

Quick question, guys! Original video - 4K - 3,840 x 2,160. Will export to BluRay disc - 1,920 X 1080. Best qualtity to Edit with EDIUS onto 4K Project setting timeline and output to 1,920 x 1080 BluRay - or put 4K onto 1,920 x 1080 Project setting timeline, edit then output to BluRay? Any difference in BluRay quality?
    Many thanks,
    Alan

You should get better quality with an HD timeline and 4K originals plus you will see what the downscaling is like as you edit. I have occassionally had 4K pictures be "too sharp" for HD and cause strange on-screen patterns on things like rows of wooden planks diagonally accross the screen. If this happens you can try diffrent types of scaling to see what works best. Of course, if you want a 4K master you won't get one without changing the project to 4K.

Thanks David. I'll pull a couple of tests based upon your suggestions. Let you know in a couple weeks. BIG project.
