  • Edius 8.5 WG not recognising blank DVD for burning

It is some time since I have burned a DVD from Edius. I am using Edius 8.53 WG and Windows 10 Pro and Edius does not recognise a blank DVD. I have two burners in the PC and both have the same issue. I have tried different previous projects in Edius as well as different blank DVDs.

Any suggestions I should try? I have recently reverted back to using Microsoft Defender instead of Kaspersky. Could that be a cause?

I appreciate I could use another program to burn a DVD, but I would like to get the one in Edius to work again.
Edius 8.53WG, Vistitle 2.8, Windows 10 x64 Pro Fall Update, Asus Z87 Pro, Intel i7-4770K, 16 GB 1600 Corsair Vengence LP RAM, Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256GB, WD Black 2TB media drive, Intel HD 4600 GPU, MSI GTX660 2GB VGA, Coolermaster Silencio 652 case, Noctua NH-U12S CPU cooler, Cakewalk UA-25EX USB audio interface, Cakewalk MA-15D monitor speakers, BM Intensity Pro 4K, PlextorPX-LB950SA BD writer, Dell U2410 Monitor

Since Anton recommended using third party software (Nero, Image Burn, etc.) years ago, that is all I use, after burning the timeline to file. He was right. Windows and Edius are unreliable for burning trouble-free discs. It's really counterproductive to try.
    Regards,

    Jon

I have managed to solve the issue. It was Defender blocking the burn to disc. I knew about excluding folders when installing Edius, but I didn't realise that it was necessary after it was installed. In my case I just excluded the Grass Valley folder in Defender and now can use Edius to burn the DVD.
