  • Rearranging tracks on the timeline

    Hey there-

Was wondering if it's possible to rearrange tracks on the timeline after some multicam editing has taken place. Not a big issue, and I certainly don't want to lose any edits over it.

    Thanks.

Don't know exactly what you mean by re-arrange. You can move tracks up or down. The timeline is upper track dominant so the top track hides anything below it unless the top track has transparency, there is a blank area or a clip is muted.

Since the "re-arrange" is a little ambiguous, you can always duplicate your timeline and try what you are talking about. If it doesn't work for you, just revert back to the original version.

Sorry for lack of clarity. Wanting to move the track order... for example, switching the positions of cam1 and cam2 tracks as they appear on the timeline... without losing the multicam edits. If this is possible how can I do this?

      Thanks.

Just grab the track header and move it up or down. As I said though, duplicate the sequence first as a safety.

once you do that, you have to re-edit because all cuts will be wrong

Can I ask why you want to move the tracks ? If we understand what you want to do it may be easy for us to answer.

It's really just a layout preference thing that I can adjust in my next project. Moving tracks around based on camera angles is what I was after. I want to prioritize them based on track order. I'm gathering that this is not something to do mid-project. I'm learning as I go here with multicam editing. Thanks for all the help.

you need to drag them around prior to making any cuts

I always make the camera that has the good audio feed Cam1 and it is on Track1
