  • Clip Sequence frame rate

I'm starting some 16mm film conversion/restoration. Two questions I'd appreciate feedback:
    * If I create (many) stills of the 16mm film, and import as clip sequence, will Edius X work much better if I convert that clip sequence to HQX file? Or can I leave it as a cip sequence and edit with it just fine?
    * If I do create an HQX, how to I keep the 1 still image to 1 video frame correspondence in the HQX video file?
    Thanks

1 still image will always be 1 frame in the HQX file

stiill image sequences are sluggish in EDIUS, so convert is recommended, Prores 4:2:2 or HQX

remember that still images in EDIUS are 8bit

The best way would be to right click on the image sequence in the bin and choose "convert". The frame rate from an image sequence will be the frame rate of the project and it will be made at the size of the original images.

        Thanks much, that helps.
        Any thoughts about:
        * For this project, I'm planning to use a 23.976fps project, as my understanding is that E10 will only output a 23.976fps Blu-ray disc which is desired output, and therefore I'll convert the image sequence to a 23.976fps clip (I won't worry about the small speed difference this will create from 24.00 fps original).
Is this the right thing to do, or is there a "reasonable" way to do true 24.000 fps as the original 16mm film was shot?

        * Is there a way to produce a 2-3-2-3 pulldown video file from the image clips or the HQX file (if I want to create a 30p or 60i file)? The E10 manual showed this setting under project setting, but it was unclear on how to create a file with pulldown.

        Any thoughts? Thanks

EDIUS can make 24p Blu-ray from 24p project with no conversion
