  • Editing/Transc. 1080p/100 fps 422 h.265 10bit hevc footage from CanonR5 in Edius 8.53

I am struggling editing high fps footage from the R5 shot in clog3 on my getting on in years computer (Dell XPS 8700).
Will I have to transcode/create proxies using Edius? How does this work?/Do I need third party software? I just downloaded Shutter encoder which can convert my media into ProRes, but I am not sure if thats what I need if I want to do a preedit and export then for another person who will do color grading and the final edit.

    1. Is the 8700 a K variant? If so you will have H.265 decode and encode capabities.

    2. I suspect your main issue is the frame rate.

    3. As a test, transcode one of the smaller files into HQX within the bin and try playing it.

    4. If it does play, converting it to Prores should yield the same playback performance.

    5. In E X, you would also have the resolution drop down to aid in playback. E9 WG has it as well.
