  • Job monitor refusal to export Edius X

    Edius X Workgroup system 4 Windows 10

All was going fine with an HD 50p project until I wanted to replace the file previously exported with a slightly better version.

It had started exporting OK so I moved the in and out points to export a second clip and after that I was in endless red failed to export.

If the old file is deleted from the hard drive before an Edius re-start it will export again but once it has stopped no other exports will work, even to a new file.

I saw a window come up saying werfault.exe then under it said "The application" and no more words.

I also saw the job monitor go white with a message "This page is having a problem refresh" I did refresh and job monitor returned.

Go back to Edius 9WG. BEWARE! The VST plugins have returned to their default values in Edius 9

The Edius X NVidia exporter produced a glitch in the sound which sounded similar to buffer run out on Edius playback.

Edius 9 is perfectly happy overwriting the exported H264 file and the software exporter did not produce a glitch in the audio file.

Acon Digital noise gate followed by Loud Max 64 on the voice track and George Young's W1 compressor for bed music on another track.

The audio corrupts when a PNG still image comes in on the export.

        Well that's interesting.

Having gone to Edius 9WG where I saved the project I tried going back to Edius X, and Edius 9 has seemed to fix the project export issues in Edius X.

I do know that if a New Blue plugin crashes Edius X WG a corrupt project is the result, and it is necessary to go back to a previously auto saved project.

I had a similar situation in another project with making proxies of UHD 50p HEVC Variable Frame Rate clips (no Quick Sync on my Xeon PC). Edius X exporter just stopped making them with the exporter refusing to export anything even a proxy of a non HEVC clip.

I then proved that if I removed all the HEVC clips from the bin saved and closed, re-opened the project it would make proxies of other clips OK. Reintroducing the HEVC clips to the bin it would make one proxy after which the exporter went back to refusing to export anything else. So save and close, open in Edius 9 where it won't make proxies of Variable Frame Rate files anyway, made a proxy of an XAVCI clip which worked fine, save and closed.

Re-opened in Edius X exporter now working properly.

What I am getting at here, is I have a strong feeling that the Edius X project file is more fragile than it should be and sometimes gets itself up an alley with no return.

I will monitor the progress of my project in Edius X and report back.
