Sorry to say that but I still must rely on the latest build of Edius 9.55 only, whenever speed and stability are priorities.
When I first installed the 10.3 update, I am not sure I read or noticed the "Tip 1" - Absolutely crucial to a new installation, I feel should have been made part of the install. I wonder did I just read the first three paths for pre 3.1 as on the "Tip" or not at all, then had to come here to the forum after days of misery trying to sort. Probably would have been better to re-write...

EDIUS X - The big tip!
Before installing EDIUS X temporarily disable your anti-virus/anti-malware.
Install EDIUS X
Restart your computer
Enable your antivirus software.
Check where you exclude folders in your anti-virus/anti-malware
Exclude the three folders:
1 C:\Program Files\Grass Valley
2 C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley
3 C:\Users\”your windows user name”\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley
Permit connections in your firewall for the following 3 services:
[NOTE these 3 x settings are for Edius 10.3 and on ONLY - Earlier users can use the three paths listed at end]
1 C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\XREAdminConsole.exe
2 C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS Hub\EH Render Service\EHRenderServiceHost.exe
3 C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS Hub\EH Render Service\EHRenderService.exe
NOTE: Pre 10.3? - Use these paths in place of the three above
1 C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\XREAdminConsole.exe
2 C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\EHRenderService\EHRenderServiceHost.exe
3 C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS X\EHRenderService\EHRenderService.exe

From about Jan 13???
I ended up having two or three days! All back to normal happily rendering jobs. Then started the stalled exports once again.
Since then the Bin-Job window has white screen and the main Job Window a black screen. I have tried an F5 on both while in this state - One time in the main Job Window the black screen F5 resulted in an Error Message I'd never seen before and will attach - warm and cold reboots make no difference at present.
Yet nothing had changed from Rendering fine to not at all, that was under my control.
For days and days still no rendering and have tried everything but a reinstall and may do that next, which has been very frustrating with a big project I am supposed to be working on - I have given up.
At that stage circa 15th January 2022, I started seriously looking at the settings. Now th e two photos Anton modified, quoted here, made me start looking at those check boxes.

When you allow it in the firewall it only checks one by default on my system, now I do not know if it is necessary to have both checked?
Nobody mentioned the need after allowing to then go in and select "Network types" (in screengrab) to allow further permissions to get the second check box allowed, or is that unnecessary?
Somehow the exclusion "C:\Users\DV_BoAB\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley" was removed from exclusions as per screenshots but it was not me and nobody else uses this laptop. Go figure? (on 21st Jan. Screenshot)
Funny how I can be rendering fine, leave Edius open for maybe 5 hrs come back and it won't render again. I now have a 10 minute fix - AND it works every time for me. So this intermittently returning "feature" of Ed.X.3 is an Uninstall then Reinstall and ALL is back to normal (I'd suggest only if all exclusions are also set right). So then all works well until this again rears its ugly head. At least now I will not spend days and days wondering what I am doing wrong. I have my own fix and it works.
I think it best if I just attach a series of screenshots, I took along my journey, which I hope may help GV to say - "Yeah I see that's where the problem lies" - Now wouldn't that make everyone happy.
My goodness - What a system - Mongrel thing lets me attach 25 imnages then says "Oh you can only attach fricken 5" - What a waste of time - Anyway make do with these 5.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Yes, 2mbps seems the lowest you can go, not sure if you can call that a issue though as image quality with 1 mbps with edius own encoder looks pretty bad, I"d use H.265 for those very low bitrate encodes. I do have the tmpgenc movie plugin and that one allows for 1mbps encodes from within edius and the quality is also better then edius own encoder.

I've found another issue in Edius 10.30 (latest build): when exporting an .mp4 H264 file asking for a low CBR of 1Mbps, the encoder (hw or sw) will only output a 2Mbps file. No lower bitrates than this.
In Edius 9.55 if I want to print @ 1Mbps CBR I always get exactly that.
An easy test to reproduce, with or without hardware encoder.

My *personal* experience is that reporting bugs here is a waste of time. A significant and easily repeatable bug was reported here and it was not taken seriously. I ran into the same thing when reporting rendering bugs related to the NewBlue titler. I actually spent quite a bit of time documenting it for this forum, making screen captures, etc.. So, I'm sorry, but reporting bugs here iss a waste of time. Better to just call Germany instead.
If you want to see the details of this particular bug, it is filed under issue # T205.

I did not say it was not widespread, BUT, if someone tells you they haven't seen it before, it means exactly that. And because of that it means we (meaning the community of users) will probably have to ask a lot of questions to try to duplicate it and solve it. If someone needs immediate help and you can get through, going to support at edius.net is a great option.
And I can stand by what I previously said about reporting problems, because I personally am one of the people that reports them. I have explained this several times in the past but we have to be able to replicate problems before we report them. We certainly don't want people afraid to post and that is one of the things we don't allow is any personal attacks on people. I'm not quite sure how saying it's not a common or known problem intimidates someone.
i know I checked on importing files to the Bin after your report and had no problems. So it is hard to respond other than saying it works here which some people don't like to hear.
One thing I do want to reiterate, is that if you are having any Job Monitor problems especially, or anything else unusual, please MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE MADE THE EXCLUSIONS in the Moderators Tips discussed here previously.
And lastly, if you are having any unsolved problems, look for the next update coming out in a few weeks.
Thank You.

What template were you using?

I have an update. I spoke with a very nice German fellow today at the EDIUS distributor. We did a screen share and he immediately reproduced the main issue I was having with adding new clips to the bin. He was very surprised. No one reported this issue yet, but he replicated it immediately on his own system.
It seems that the issue appears when creating a new project from a Template (which is what I always do).
The 7 frame-delay thing was explained to me as expected behavior. Basically, the timecode display on your screen is a "low priority process" compared to video display. So after you press pause, the CPU "catches up" and displays the correct timecode number that matches the video frame actually being displayed.
I would encourage folks to call the German phone number and report issues that you can easily replicate. It really doesn't seem to go do any good to report them here. I also would not assume that "this is so obvious, somebody must be working on this already". That wasn't the case for my issue and may not be for yours either.Last edited by SeanW; 01-31-2022, 04:38 PM.

I'm certain that the correct windows have focus in all cases. I wrote that "Ctl+O doesn't work", but in reality, there is no way to add a clip to the bin until you first put some video on the main timeline using some other method, then drag that video from the timeline into the bin. After that, you can magically add anything you want to the bin using any of the normal methods. I know that sounds totally crazy and bizarre. But it's definitely happening, and it's very repeatable.
I don't want to sound like a jerk, because I do appreciate your participation on this forum, but I don't think it's helpful to say "I don't have that problem, you're doing something wrong". If you have seen an issue before, and fixed it, then please say "I had this problem too, here is how I fixed it..."Last edited by SeanW; 01-29-2022, 01:36 AM.

(1) Can not add a clip to the bin using Ctl+O unless I first drag something into the bin from the main timeline. Thereafter OK.
(2) GV Job Monitor display often doesn't open. Sometimes it opens, and is displayed in what I can only describe as "plain text", with no graphical elements.
(3) Total system freeze for about 10 seconds when adding new clips to the bin
(4) Video position bar consistently jumps forward 7 frames after every stop (is this a feature or a bug?? It's extremely repeatable)
(5) Video playback sometimes doesn't stop when I hit the spacebar (almost feels like a broken keyboard).
Also, is "non-dark-mode" no longer an available option for the user interface? My eyes really struggle with dark mode GUI's.
(4) that is normal, the larger the buffer and playback frames before playback, the larger the jump, try 5 and 512 to see if it is better
(3) no issues here
(2) no issues here with three job mon related exe allowed in firewall
(1) does the bin have focus when you press CTRL+O (I personally just double click the empty space in the bin to add files)

SeanW That is exactly the issues I have with the Edius X latest version. When I first reported, the moderator of this forum said I was the only one reported such issues and my issues are very rear. Either I am the only person having the issues or not many people are using Edius now a day. That was my assumption but great to see more people are having the same issues. I hope this will get Eduis group attention to fix all these issues. Currently, I am to Edius X version 10.xxxxxx .
