I am sorry to ask it again, but still no news on the update of the hardware list??
Now that Microsoft has notified that the are stopping to sell windows XP http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...xp/future.mspx and my reseller doesn't have very much copies of it in stock I get a little bit worried.
I know, I am not the only one who is waiting for the result of the testing.
And because the NX doesn't work (yet) with Vista I will have to build my new systeem (very) soon, because I have to buy a new Windows OEM licences.

OK, very clear Steve
But I am planning to build a system around the NX card.
So I think its better to wait a little untill GrassValley has tested the boards for compatibility whith the NX.

Board
Hi Ton,
No I run Vista 64bit and because the drivers are not out I cant,
I use Edius as a OHCI program only, The rest of the system great, no problems with the board or raid ect, I must admit that I have only just set it all up and still in the progress of installing software, but so far no problems, these boards scream with the new intel X48 chipset.
Cheers
Steve

Steve,
How is the rest of your systems configuration?
And are you using the NX (Pci) express card with the board?

DDR3 or DR2
Hi,
I would go for the new GIGABYTE GA-X48-DQ6 (Intel X48+ICH9R) which I am using, it uses DDR2 ram instead of DDR3, DDR3 ram is not as fast in testing as DDR2, wait a while until they sought out DDR3 ram more, Most high end machines and users are opting for DDR2 over DDR3 ram, I have no intention of switching for a while yet, not until you really see a performance increase to justify DDR3 ram.
Cheers

KH,
thank you for the reply.
Certainly the Gigabyte boards are very interesting for me.
Maybe I just wait until the test result are there before I make a decision.

I will put a listing of what is due for testing, up here next week.
Did you already have time to look after the list?

Gdame,
Of course I want a reliable Workstation
I decide before the end of this month.
Maybe I first buy the NX-express because of the special promotion prices here in the Netherlands, and built my new workstation (a little) later, so I have some time to save some more money..

Jerry,
I have read of problems from the P5K WS in combination with NX express on a Dutch forum.
Do not let the cost difference between DDR2 & DDR3 be the deciding factor on building a fast reliable workstation.

I have searched the forum for "P5k64WS" and every on is talking about DDR3.
I known you have build some systeems whith the P5k64WS, did you every use DDR2?
Ton
Why would you not want DDR3? This mainboard with a 2GB DDR3 memory, a 6850 3GHz Core 2 Duo and an 8600 GT graphics card is a sweet machine for reasonable cost. It is also a certified by GV board for use with NX (PCIe version).
