  • hardwarecompatibility list update?

Is there any chance that the hardwarecompatibility list is going to be updated soon?

I want to build a new computer soon whith a NX express, but I have a limited budget.
A lot of the MoBo's named on the list, are not (longer) for sale in the Netherlands, or are very hard to get!

Because of my budget I think the best way to go is a MoBo that supports DDR2.
Asus is pretty easy to get here!

    Anybody an recommandation?

Some more models are scheduled for testing, but the results will not be available until around May/June.

I will put a listing of what is due for testing, up here next week.

You might want to read the signatures at the bottom of individual posts. Usually, system specs are on there....such as mine.

ASUS P5K64 WS works real well. Especially with a Quad Core CPU and it supports DDR3 as well as DDR2.

I have done that, but a lot of system specs named in the signatures have also "old" Mobo's or Mobo's not or diffecult (not) to get here!

I also looked for the P5K WS (your secandary system), but have heard of confilicts whith th NX card!

              Gdame,

When I look at the Asustek site on the QVL for the P5K64 WS there are only DDR3 modules named! In the manual the are also only talking about DDR3.

I have searched the forum for "P5k64WS" and every on is talking about DDR3.
I known you have build some systeems whith the P5k64WS, did you every use DDR2?

Ton, I stand corrected. I apologize. No I have not used this mainboard with DDR2.

Why would you not want DDR3? This mainboard with a 2GB DDR3 memory, a 6850 3GHz Core 2 Duo and an 8600 GT graphics card is a sweet machine for reasonable cost. It is also a certified by GV board for use with NX (PCIe version).

You will notice that my second system does not contain an NX card but rather a Intensity Pro. I do not know for sure if the P5k WS will work with the NX card or not. I never did try.

                    Gdame,

The P5K64WS is a option, certainly now prices for DDR3 are starting to drop!

                    Jerry,

I have read of problems from the P5K WS in combination with NX express on a Dutch forum.

                      TonR,

Do not let the cost difference between DDR2 & DDR3 be the deciding factor on building a fast reliable workstation.

                        Gdame,

Of course I want a reliable Workstation
I decide before the end of this month.

Maybe I first buy the NX-express because of the special promotion prices here in the Netherlands, and built my new workstation (a little) later, so I have some time to save some more money..

These are the initial boards planned for testing, with results due to be published in a month or two.

                            ASUS P5E (Intel X38+ICH9R)
                            ASUS M3A32-MVP DELUXE (AMD 790FX+SB600)
                            GIGABYTE GA-X38-DQ6 (Intel X38+ICH9R)
                            GIGABYTE GA-X48-DQ6 (Intel X48+ICH9R)

There may be more, but I don't have any further info.

                              thank you for the reply.

Certainly the Gigabyte boards are very interesting for me.

Maybe I just wait until the test result are there before I make a decision.
