Just to make sure we are all on the same page:
we are talking about slow switching not during editing.

example: you do graphics in photo shop and have edius and photo shop open
You maximize photo shop (focus) now when you go back to Edius to view the results it take some time for Edius to come back.
it is not only between EDIUS and photoshop but it happens between EDius and other apps.

Switching between other apps is smooth.
It is only Edius that shows this behaviour.

On my office System, Edius 4.54 with DV storm2 card, it switches instantly.

On my home System, Edius 4.54 with NX pci-express card (no hd extension) it takes much longer to switch, Loading large projects on both systems is a matter of seconds, nothing longer than starting photoshop ...............

If you read my previous replies - if you just start EDIUS with nothing in the bin, and you minimise EDIUS and then bring it out again, I get instant response. The moment you load up the bin with lots and lots of clips, then it starts to slow down. With a maximum of 128 open clips that can be shown on my secondary monitor in the bin, I record of about 10 seconds for EDIUS to be up again - versus nearly 0 seconds with nothing in the bin.

Why don't Steve try it with nothing in the bin and see whether he gets instant response?

I am surprised I am the one of the few people here running NX on PCI-X (133mhz, 64 bits).

I have tried it in a lot of ways and I don't get an instant response. I don't have to do more test I can tell you that.
I don't come to those conclusions without doing lots and lots of tests.

I also have storms systems and a ohci system to compare results of responsiveness in switching.

Okay - I am sorry that hear that the NX Express card has a problem in that case.

Before this one, I am only aware of one physical problem -

The NX card is fairly long - and the Express slot on the card is so small - the card flaps in the breeze if you have a powerful ventilation fan. Over time, I am not sure if it will cause problems to the card.

Now I know there are two problems ....

I do think this will get fixed.

BTW my cards don't flap NX_E and the firecoder card. They sit nice in my system. :)

I got a SP card and the exact same problem...difficulty is the circumstance that i am working on a documentary with massive footage size...that takes some time when i open projects, but i cant say its minutes..maybe 1 maximum, and thats when i open projects with 4 or 5 timelines, that contain about 3 hours each...i dont have any effect when edius autosaves..Editing is smooth and without problems...opening up is the only slow down..or switching..which i dont do too often..
