  • Edius 8.5 WG crash on a subpar laptop

    Hi all,

I'm using Edius on an old laptop. So far I edited a couple of timelapse projects exporting in 4K without problem. It's slow but everything worked as expected.
Now I'm just trying to load some GH5 clips for basic trimming. No matter I do, Edius crashes. I tried with 4K, 1080p 8 buit 10 bit, everything. As I put a clip on the timeline Edius crashes. I cannot create proxies.
    What I can check?

    Thank you in advance Cattura.PNG

what is the file extension of the GH5 clips? if mov, check and make sure Quicktime Player 7.7.9 is installed and activated in EDIUS 8 system settings

you can also batch convert all clips in the bin to Grass Valley HQ or HQX and then they will play in real time with no issues

      No. They are mp4. 4K @50p 4:2:0.
i can load them in the bin and add to the timeline but as I Try to move the timeline cursor on them or playing them from the bin... BOOM

I tried to set the playback rez. To 1/16. No luck. The same If I try to create proxies.
Laptop has only the Intel integrated graphic card.

Could the Edius crash report be of some help?

I can have a look at the system report
open EDIUS and in the help menu, generate a system report and attach it here

have you tried the bin conversion to HQ? HQX?

I have GH5 files here in mp4 and mov format and they work in E7, 8, 9, and X

I also see some problem hardware, see attached

Also, can you make a screenshot of device manager and attach here

Also, disable the hardware decoder in system settings, importer exporter and see if that helps

                  It works!

I disabled HW Decoder in several formats in system settings!

The Citrix Virtual adapter actually is a VPN sw module I disabled to free memory for Edius.

                  Thank you Anton!
