Hi Again,

Question - I'm trying to do some PIP work using the 3D PIP. I have a color matte placed on the VA track, a PIP on the 2V track and another on a 3V track. How do I do a disolve from one PIP to another. Also how do I disolve to my first PIP from the VA track when the first PIP comes in. Hope that makes sense?

If I understand this right you have not used these correctly.

The PIP is applied to a clip. So do you have 3 different clips with 3 different PIPs applied?

AFA dissolving, go to transparency control in the PIP, add a keyframe where you want the dissolve to start and then add another where it should end and set the end transparency

As you have put a colour matt on track 1 I assume you want the colour matt to be the background for all the pips and therefore will have a longish duration.
lets say the track 1 is 20 seconds long.
You can fade up the colour by setting a keyframe at say 1 second on the transparency track in the pip settings box. now set the transparency at 100% at zero seconds and leave it at 0% at 1 second. This will now set a fade in of the colour over 1 second. You can now do the opposite at the end to create a fade down if you like.
Now set your pip on track 2 at say 5 secs and set the position and scaling of the pip as you want. Now repeat what you did at the start of track 1 to create the fade up, repeat again for track 3.
The positions and timings of the clipsare of course entirely up to you

Thanks - I do understand that the PIP is applied to a clip. I have one clip in the V2 track, it plays fine. Half way through that clip, I'm trying to have another clip (which is placed on the V3 track) disolve on in a different part of the screen (while the clip in the V2 track is still there). Basically, what I'm struggling with is getting the clips to disolve in and out. It is not letting me place a disolve either from the color matte (in the VA track) to the first PIP or between the V2 and the PIP in the V3 track. Sorry, this is sounding more complicated than it is I'm sure. Thanks for your patience!

Like I said and so too did Psssss, you have to set keyframes on the transparency line in the Pip settings box and set the transparency to 100% at the start of the clip and to 0% when you want to see the clip.
Remember to set your pip position and scale etc at the start of the clip before you set the transparency otherwise you won't see your clip when its at 100% transparent

Thanks John - I guess I'm just going to have to play around with it (using your advice of course). I suppose this is all just part of the learning curve! BTW, where is Dudley in the UK. I'm from Chester origionally - now living on the East Coast US (Maryland)

Surpised you don't know where Dudley is, its about 60 miles south west of Chester, and about half way between Wolverhampton and Birmingham; right in the heart of the black country.
I'm sure you'll sort this tranparency problem out.

You can only put one keyer per keyer track so that is a bit of a pain, but you can either fade it in the PIP box itself, or you can just expand the keyer track on the timeline (you will see a blue line on top of the track, make sure Mix is enabled on the left side of the timeline, and then drag it down to zero on each end after clicking in it to make a couple of keyframes. Very easy this way.
