  • Edius X (10.20.7620) - Batch convert issues again (GV Job Manager / Render Manager)

    Hi gents,

I'm running again into some issues, that i cant batch convert with the new Render/Job Manager in Edius 10. 3 serious troubles i faced today in one of my project.

1.) did a title with newblue fx titler on the timeline. a very simple text. when i tried to export the timeline to a MP4 file, the render manager canceled the job. I didn't get/see any information why the render was canceled. Couln't find any note/hint/error message in the GV-Job Monitor. Is there realy no description why a job was cancled in the job-monitor. It took me 2 hours, to identify, that the title i created in NewBlueFX Titler was the bad boy.

2.) tried to do a batch convert gopro clips. i noticed that the "batch" option was greyed once i wanted to choose it in the bin window. Eg. selected all clips in the bin windows, right mouse click, convert, batch convert was grey, not possible to choose. I figured out, that i cant use bactch convert, once the input format of the clips is mixed. For instance, all off my shots are done in 4K, but i had 2 or 3 files which was in Full HD (by accident). Once i deleted the Full HD clips, I got the option to batch convert and it was not any longer "greyed". Is it wanted that you cant batch convert mixed files with different input size to convert it into one format? for instance all my 4K files, mixed with some full HD files, to bring it down to full HD?

3.) Once i figured out, why I cant select and batch convert, as i stated above, i run into the next issue with GV Job Monitor/Render Manager. Once I ensured, all files have similar settings, all is 4K and not mixed with some HD clips, i was able to select the batch convert option. But in the GV-JOB manager i saw, that every clip was cancled after a first try. I was not able to convert my Gopro clips. Once more again, I did get any information out of the Render/Job Manager, why the batch render was canceled. It's frustrating that i dont know, why Edius dont want to batch convert. Any ideas where to find some error log, or similar? I tried, to reboot the PC, starting the batch jobs again, but with the same result. All of them getting canceled by Edius. Any ideas, to find some error logs? I have no idea why Edius wont convert my files.

Thanks in advance for your ideas?

    Hi Werner

    1. be sure to add the render services to the firewall allow
Hi all, The moderators of the forum will be sharing tips in this thread . If you have any suggestions feel free to send me or Grassvalley_PS a PM.

you can view the properties of any failed render and see the log why it failed, see attached

2 and 3, batch conversion also fails in EDIUS 9 when clips of differing frame sizes and or frame rates are selected

Anton thanks for your info. I'll add the render services to ensure that nothing is blocked.
About the LOG file, i found it yesterday too, but there is no failure code or the "real issue" described. I would prefer to see the reason why the job was canceled, for instance "wrong file format" etc.

But right now, i give them a try with the firewall to get the Gopro files converted ;-)

      Thanks.

Did a workaround by opening a blank project only for converting the clips. In the new/blank project it worked and all clips are converted. I tried the same, also after unblocking all GV tasks (according the suggestsion) in the firewall of the original project file, and it failed again. I think there is some issue in the project file or settings. Didn't investigate further what exactly the problem is, as it's so time consuming to solve this issue ;-)
