  • Problem exporting vertical video

    Edius v.Pro 8 on PC

I have made vertical videos with a custom 1080 x 1920 but when I export with the usual MPEG2 1920x1080 obviously the result is a vertical video in the middle of the 16:9 aspect ratio.
I've been dropping this into Handbrake, cropping the sides and making a 600x1080 MP4 which looks ok as an Instagram Reel.
The problem is, I want to advertise an Instagram Video Story but Instagram will not accept the MP4 size. An 'error' window states that I must provide a 1080 x 1920 video.
A YouTube video shows someone exporting this type of video using F4V. This doesn't work for me as I get the error: Could not use the selected format.
Obviously, in the 'advanced' section of the MPEG2 1920x1080 preset - I can't change anything, all the options are greyed out.
Could somebody please explain what I'm doing wrong?

you need to set project settings to 1080x1920 via custom option

then add your videos and crop and position with layouter until you fill the vertical frame

then you export to H264/AVC mp4

Note: Twitter and Instagram also except 1024x1024, that way you don't need to crop that much

What happens if you change your audio to 4800khz 24 bit or 4800khz 16 bit?

Yes, it works now. I can confirm; 48kHz/2ch and 48kHz/4ch audio presets work. Haven't tried others yet. Thank you for the responses, appreciated.

You're welcome. Most likely you won't need 4 channels.

yes, 48k and 2 channel (stereo) is the normal setting for video (this has nothing to do with the number of audio tracks, you can have 10 tracks if you want in a 2 channel stereo project)

if making 5.1 surround sound, use 6 channel
