From my observations RED has a tremendous market presence beyond the actual utility of their cameras.
The only thing that would drive GV to support these platforms are their perceived value in the marketplace. While this ephemeral "value" may be important from a marketing point of view, from my aspect almost anything else on the Edius wishlist would be a higher priority for GV software engineers than time spent supporting these glamourous but ultimately little used systems.

I agree not even 4000 cameras out at this point and a few other announcement cameras make it not so hot .

Red company is more of an announcement, late delivery, accessories not in stock company.

        Red One .R3D file support

        Hi,

I just wanted to post that I also wish EDIUS to support Red One .R3D files as soon as possible.

The Red Scarlet has been canceled. That might be a strong work. It is to be retooled and delayed. I might venture a NAB preview or release. It had to do with all of the SLR digitals doing 3k video. The replacement is to be bigger and badder, at least those at Red say so.

Many on this board predicted that it would not deliver on time.
I have a feeling it will be a much better version of the Scarlett, and if it is more, oh well.

                Scarlet and underwater video

We do mainly underwater video. The Scarlet could well be the best camera for underwater video shoots. So I really hope that Edius will offer a workflow for the Scarlet without loss of quality.

While I hesitate to say it's impossible, keep in mind that the RED cameras (as well as some of the newer digital still cameras that can do progressive video) are digital film cameras, not digital video cameras, so the formats and workflows are a bit different.

EDIUS is designed to work with digital video in its current incarnation.

While it seems subtle, there are big differences between how digital video is worked with versus digital film. Most is in the shooting, but there are significant differences in the data, workflow and result as well.

Here is a great article with some detail of "a' workflow. Just to let people know that there is way way more involved.

                      Nice article. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Kind of reminds me of the old days when everything was hand-assembled... Very different world, but who knows, with the economy as it is, we might all be going back to build-your-own solutions once again!!

Yes I guess some people think it is just shoot and EDIT.
There are some other articles on projects done. It is a huge undertaking to get from shoot to Edit. In a production environment at least.........
