Doesn't really matter if it goes to the monitor then output to an amp or goes through a home theatre receiver before the monitor. I have mine set to go to monitor first then out to the amp and speakers.
    Thanks Ron,
I just checked and it does have a couple of USB outs, but no standard audio line out. However, I do have the USB to computer speaker audio adapter I'm using with the Focusrite. Maybe, tomorrow I'll try it and see what happens.

The Canadian version must be different then as it shows the connector next to the DisplayPort connector.

        Ron, you da man!!
Last night, I chose the lazy way of viewing connecting specs. by looking at the specs on BH website. It didn't mention the audio out from my monitor. The way it's positioned on my computer desk, makes it a bit of a pain in the *** to get behind. After reading your post, I was certain that Dell wouldn't make a variant without it, so I looked, and sure enough, there it was. So, after a bit of replumbing and audio system setting changes: TOTAL SUCCESS!! Problem solved!!

          UPDATE, NEW NONSENSE:

Just when I thought I could pop Champaign corks and declare victory, this happens:
Well, it seems that the schizophrenic program that is Resolve is happy to play the audio when in EDIT mode, however, when switching to Fairlight mode, NO AUDIO comes through the speakers, although the meters are showing that sound is being received. So, one part of Resolve says its fine with audio coming through the Dell monitor, and another part of Resolve is not. Of course when I replumbed and reset it all to go through the Focusrite Scarlett, all parts of Resolve are happy again. Of course, going through Decklink, Edius is not happy unless going through the monitor. The fun never ends! :)

How have you got the project settings in Resolve. If you set Windows to the Decklink card for audio output, AND set Resolve to use system audio settings under video and audio in project settings I think it may work. At least it works this way for me designating the IP4K as audio output. But both have to be set this way. Windows and Resolve. If you do not set them the same you can hear both outputs out of sync. At least I can get mine to work this way.

If I am not using Resolve and want output from my PC monitor for example I just change the Windows setting by hitting the speaker icon in the task bar and selecting how I want to output audio.
