Thanks KH
So Anything on the NX is OK for HDV
and the 6 Pin on the Expansion board can be used as if it were any OHCI Port.
Cheers

As I understand it, both 4-pin and 6-pin on the NX boardset pair can accept either DV or HDV input (or DVCPRO, if you have that), provided that the two boards are properly linked with the data and FireWire internal connector cables.
What this does, is 'piggyback' the OHCI compliancy brought with the daughterboard, onto the NX mainboard...thus making the 4-pin port there a fully-HDV compatible port.
This is why we say that you can achieve ADVC mode even if you don't have the daughterboard, but instead have an additional OHCI FireWire port somewhere else (motherboard, separate controller).

Apart from the power it supplies, it's virtually the same as the 4 pin.

Can the 6 Pin be used as a normal 1394 socket for external devices.

NX Boards and Firewire
Going into Brain Freeze here. Having finally got the NXe system up and running (ish) I am still confused by the 6pin FW socket on the Component Expansion Board. I have the NX Bay fitted as well. Info on page 23 of the manual is confusing.
So....are the 4pin sockets for SD only.
I know this has come up before but have not found crystal clear description.
For capturing and exporting back to a HDV deck do you only use the 6 Pin
Can the 6 Pin be used as a normal 1394 socket for external devices. (Unlike the 4pin's which are NX only- like Storm)
Component out - this should work for both SD and HDV? What if project is set to 1394
Thanks
