  • Issues with Vistitle 2.9 in Edius X

Edius X will sometimes start up very quick, as one would expect. However, every time when this happens you can know that Vistitle will be absent. This despite the fact that the
“VtEDIUSImporterX” file is in the PlugIn folder. When Edius will startup with Vistitle included, it will take a very very L O N G time to open and every time the “EDIUS Sytem Reporter” will appear before Edius will eventually open. Vistitle will then work as normal with short titles. However, we are used to create long rolling titles where we paste the text into a title. Now with Edius X and Vistitle 2.9, it takes ages for such a paragraph to be accepted in a title by Vistitle. It makes it impossible to use Vistitle, but all our old projects of which we often have to reuse some, includes titles that were created with Vistitle.
Are we the only ones struggling with these issues? Are there settings or adjustments in Bios that we missed out on? Or are there any work arounds?

I found the same when I had to do credit rolls for a cinema project, so I ended up using Quicktitle and it is instant response no matter how long the roll

I use Vistitle for everything but rolls

I think Jerry even reported this issue to the makers

Thanks for your reply Anton. At least I am no longer feeling alone. However, would you say it is normal for Edius to take so much longer to start up when Vistitle is included?

If you have a lot of plugins the Edius X load time will take longer.
Also, let Windows load completely before starting Edius X. If you don't, Vistitle 2.9 will not be included in that Edius startup.

Long scrolls or scrolls with multiple columns slow Vistitle to a crawl. This is the case if your GPU has a low Vram amount. I have 11GB of Vram and it struggles on long scrolls, but more so on multi column scrolls.
Your 10900k should be enough to push the scroll along though.

I reported this to the Vistitle engineers way before 2.9 was released. It's been a while since I have heard from them.

Did you have the problem before? Or is this a newly happened issue? If it's new, the problem is likely to be related with the recent Windows update. The current workaround is to uninstall the recent Windows patch. Which Windows 10 version do you use?
If you use Win10 20H2, please try to uninstall the recently updated KB5000802 patch. And if there is new patch installed after uninstallation, such as KB4601319, keep uninstalling it until the patch KB4594440 which cannot be installed come up.
If you use Win10 1909, please try to uninstall the recently updated KB5000808 patch.
And then please try VisTitle again.

Thanks for your reply Nora. Are you from the Visdom Team? I am on Win10 20H2. I tried to follow your advice, but as you will be able to see from the attached screenshots, these updates seem to have been installed. However, I could not uninstall them because they did not show up in the Uninstaller. When I tried to uninstall them through WUSA, the Windows Update Standalone Uninstaller confirms that they are not installed. Please advise.

Nora, I reported the failure to load issue to Jack at the start of Edius X. As I said in my earlier post, if you wait for Windows 10 to completely load, there is no issue.
Also, I've sent a few emails to Jack and have not heard back from him in quite some time.

                  SOLUTION FOUND!
Remember I have 2 new identical PCs with new Windows 10 and Edius X and Vistitle 2.901 installed. On both we experienced the same problem regarding Edius X and Vistitle 9.201. Therefore I was only trying to uninstall the Windows update as suggested on the PC where I could not find the KB5000802 patch. As you’ll remember I could not even see it in the uninstaller. However, at the end I tried to uninstall it on the other PC. There it was clearly seen, thus I uninstalled it as well as 2 other updates. Since then Edius including Vistitle started up amazingly quick! In addition I could paste a long paragraph in a rolling title and it was accepted very quickly by Vistitle. When saved, it was immediately available on the timeline. This came as a great relief. The question was: Wat was wrong with the first PC? In the end I decided to do a full new install of Windows 10. After all the software were installed, Edius and Vistitle are also working just as excellent as on the second PC.
Thus, thank you for all the effort and your kind support and help. I hope it will stay running like this.
The remaining question now is: What about all the Windows updates with which we would be bombarded from now on. How do we know if and which should be installed and which not. This first PC now already shows plenty updates including the KB5000802 patch.

                    That patch will return.
What was the size of the scroll. Once you get past the 25MB range, problems begin.
I have one that is 34MB and on my older system it takes a while to load. Playback is not a problem.

Thanks Jerry, I see what you mean: Both PCs Windows updates had been installed this morning. Thus I had to uninstall them again and choose the “Pause updates for 7 days”. Hopefully the Visdom engineers will succeed in finding a solution.
Ours longest scroll is about 2 minutes at 10MB.
Edius X still opens sometimes excluding Vistitle 2.901, despite the fact that Windows was loaded fully. Luckily on the second attempt Vistitle is usually loaded.

                        Hi
This may have something to do with your problem and it would appear to be E10 causing the trouble.
I’ve been working on a project for a couple of years and is has become large and I still have about another three years to go. I have in excess of 300 Vistitle lower thirds and main text tiles.
Now this project has stopped opening in E10 but will open in E9. Other projects will open in E10.
It has taken me a few days to discover that it is VisTitle causing the trouble and if I uninstall Vistitle the particular project opens without any trouble in E10.
Any ideas please or will the E10 limitation be rectified tomorrow?
