    Hi Barry
Good to know that posting a 'problem' can make someone else's life easier.

Did you try clicking the settings button on the Batch Capture window header?
Are you seeing a change to the 'Divide clip' options inthe 'Deck Settings' dialog?
(ie all check marks have been cleared).

The only comment I have had back from Support so far is that they cannt re-produce the problems I am getting.
It sounds like your install is also merging sequential clips. Edius wasn't doing this in v4.54.

    regards

Not having tried it in earlier versions I can only report to you what I have found from a test project
In the Capture of the EDL if the cips are closer than 10 secs (guess) they seem to be gathered together in one long capture but if a new project was started this did not matter as the clip was broken up on the timeline to the correct position and timing
If the time between clips on the tape was longer than 10 secs then the individual time was recorded, this is great
    Thanks for the post
Last trime I tried with HDV this it did not work, that was quite some time back with version 3 and I had not bothered to try since

    Thanks Simon
I had tried it some time ago with my FX1 and it did not work as the camera whired back and forth and what was captured bore no resemblance to the Batch list, and this occurred in PP, Vagas, MSP7 and Edius so I had given it away convinced it was a camera thing
I will give the canons a go later but if 4.6 is not working for you then it may be in vain

...but it did work (and it works in pp2 as well). I've been doing exactly this for 18 months.
I shoot in HDV (Sony HVR-A1), downconvert to SD from my camera to my laptop to make my movie 'on the run' (in reality, on a boat).

In the evening select clips to recapture in HDV. I create the EDL from the SD project and export it. Import it into an Edius project with an HDV preset and capture. This workflow had been working fine until v4.6.

I am experiencing a bug somewhere. It cannot be a feature that selecting 'Settings" from the Batch Capture dialog window automatically UNchecks all 'Divide Clip' options and subsequently disregards any changes.

Until v4.6 there had been a bug where an EDL import would duplicate every clip for capture and indeed Edius would capture every clip twice, so I would uncheck every other entry from the batch capture import window. This bug is not apparent in v4.6. I have clips combining instead.

    regards

I take it the project was first made in SD and the EDL exported and then the EDL imported into a HDV project, if this is the case then the files will not be captured as the HDV cameras will not cue like a DV camera. You would get anything but what you want.
If you were to do this in a DV project with the camera set to down convert to DV it should work.
Unless cameras have changed since I last tried it Batch or EDL lists will not work with HDV
One of the problems with HDV
    Regards Barry

v4.6 EDL import not spliting clips

    Hi Team
Since my update to v4.6 I have encountered a problem with the EDL Import not splitting clips with sequential timecodes.
This is something that was working in all previous versions of Edius that I have used. My workflow has not changed, only the version of Edius.

I have removed Edius then installed again from v4 release2 discs and run just the v4.6 update and the fault persists.

I export an EDL, BVE9100 format, from an Edius project with an SD preset.
I import the EDL into an Edius project with an HDV preset.
The original timeline and the EDL file both list 40 clips.
When I import the EDL the 'Batch Capture' dialog lists only 23 clips to capture as it has merged clips with sequential timecodes.

Despite the Settings|Application settings|Desk Settings dialog indicating all options under "Automatically Divide Files" are checked.

However if I click the settings button on the title bar of the Batch Capture dialog the same settings dialog window is displayed with all these settings UNchecked.
I can check them, click Apply, click OK. Go back and check them again and they are UNchecked. Now if I go back to Application Settings|Deck settings all options under "Automatically Divide Files" are UNchecked.

This is painful as I use this workflow every day and want my clips divided.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    regards
    Simon
