  • Stereo as default setting for new sequences - is there anywhere to set this?

    Hi:
When you create a new sequence, it is created as a mono sequence by default. In almost all cases, however, we want stereo - and not mono.
It would therefore be highly interesting for us if there is somewhere in EdiusX a way to change this default setting accordingly.
    Can anyone help us ?

// In my mostly one-hour documentary films, it is not uncommon for me to use between 30 and 60 sequences (which unfortunately are all created with mono). In the heat of the moment I usually forget to switch to stereo right away. It is an annoying nuisance. Hence the question I just asked.
Thanks in advance for any response.

    Hello Kurt

The VA tracks default to stereo the V tracks default to mono

Nowhere to change that in settings as far as I can see, except I have found a weird way to do it.

In your project settings add 1 VA track. It doesn't matter if you are not going to use it but it makes the 1V track audio default to stereo. Now open a new sequence. Does that work for you?

My usage is the opposite to yours, I manly use the V tracks in mono to separate the interview mic from the on camera mic.

You can great preset with audio channels mapped stereo and or as you like.
in project settings when creating the preset click Channel map and set it in there for each channel, then you can choose that preset as you like and have those settings.
Also you can set mapping as you like when you create projects and change settings for each sequence as you like by right clicking the sequence tab and go into sequence settings an channel map in there.

Ah yes, interesting answer. I will inform our users who are interested in alternatives (and I will test it).

Another way to do this is to create a project preset with all customized settings.

                Go to Settings->System settings->Project presets
                click new preset
Then modify everything you need (audio is done in the channel map)
Save it and it will appear in the project preset list with the name you gave it.

The great thing is that you can create a preset or a template depending on your needs. :)
