Prores file I can't open in Edius 8 & 9

Thanks again for your recommendations and tests. I will move to Edius X in the following months if really needed. Business is to quiet to invest in a brand new computer. The demand was linked for an amateur 16mm film family souvenirs in 18i/sec... and not very stable. So Prores was the proposition of the lab... but in this case a mp4 with high bitrate will be OK.

If I were you, I would ask for a different prores file like 422, 422HQ, 4444, etc. Basically the older prores formats from before XQ or Raw existed. They will likely be better than an mp4 file.

Just tested on my system. Reqular quicktime for Windows does not play back Prores Raw. My Edius install of 9.54.6706 half reads the file but cycles between video and full colour flash frames, telling me it is having problems reading that file on my setup, but Prores raw does seem to use GPU for assisted decode and my GPUs are old. The system you have in your signature is about the same agae as mine so I suspect you will have the same issues on that hardware.

Decompress but couldn't open it.

For EDius 8 & 9, have I to specify some parameters of Prores ?

... or is it more simple to ask a MP4 with high bitrates...?

To use prores you will need to have quicktime installed and also enabled in Edius. If you already have quicktime installed, you may have a corrupt install of it, and it may need to be re-installed. However, that clip is a prores raw file based on the name on your post. I don't think Edius 8 supported Prores Raw, and it is probably only the lastest Edius 9 files that could read it.

Ill test it on mine in a few minutes and post back.
