    Hi all....

I'm having a weird capture issue. I'm capturing many mini dv tapes from a Sony dv deck. Each is about an hour long. Yesterday each mini dv tape decided to stop capturing at about 50 min. 10 seconds. I have no in and out points for the capture. The capture window shows no "marks" or keys that I can see. Why is the capture stopping at 50 min. 10 sec. in?
Tried a different deck.....going through sony camcorder....same thing. Stops at about 50 min. automatically. So It has to be something inside edius capture that'sstopping the capture. I get no error message.

Is it possible that the tapes only have 50 minutes of material? Are these tapes yours or those of a client? Have you tried starting a capture at the 45 minute mark, and see if it goes past 50 minutes?
    Regards,

I check to end of each tape so no. These tapes go right to the end, about 1 hr. 2 min. What I started doing when this anomaly popped up is rewind about 30 sec. and capture the rest of the tape and stitch them together. So I'm going past the STOP point again with no problem.
This started happening AFTER I had captured about 6 1 hour long tapes with no problem. Then this GLITCH started happening where Edius is deciding automatically "I am stopping capture right here at 50 minutes 10 sec."..........like I have set this stop capturing point. I even tried setting a capture out point at 1 hour 2 minutes. Edius capture STILL stopped capturing at 50 min. 10 sec.

UPDATE: I thought maybe if I just made a new project it would get rid of this strange capture issue. Just tried a new project and same thing! Capture stopped at 50 min. 5 sec. What the heck is going on. Do I need a system restore to a couple days ago?

Have you restarted Edius and/or rebooted the computer. Step 1 in computer troubleshooting. Step 2 is to do a full shutdown and preferably either remove power and try to turn the system on several times or press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds with the power removed before supplying power and booting normally, or wait about 30 minutes with the power removed. This lets all the electronics in the system do a full power cycle, draining any residual charges and powering up fresh.

            Hmmm.
Anton....the 50 min. 10 sec. long files are ALL 10.4 GB.....like something is telling edius 10.4GB is the GB "capture limit".
The mini dv tapes that were fully captured .......1 hr. 2 min. are in the 13GB range.
Somehow mid-way into my capturing journey did some setting get set in capture that I don't know about?

it is a strange one, I can't think of anything that would stop capture at 10.4GB

              can you try EDIUS 9.54

                Anton!!!! Thanks for your reply.
I downloaded the 9.54 update. I usually wait for my tech guy to run updates....but he's now quarantining due to covid exposure.
Please answer this question. Is it a simple run the .exe file install? (I looked at readme and it's not clear on STEPS TO UPDATE 9.54. It says something about downloading a trial version..etc etc. I don't want to install a trial version! I wish the readme was clearer. )
                Thanks for your help.

Was there a change in storage location or media just before the problem arose? I've seen individual file size limits placed on various types of network and cloud storage.

no. dpalomaki. No Change. I keep my editing computer offline mostly. Waiting for someone to tell me if 9.54 is a quick run the exe file update to see if that changes anything. I've searched all over the system settings to see if there is any "capture limit" setting I accidentally activated. But no luck with that.
