  • Alpha Channels

Been making HQX files in Resolve - with Alpha - they work fine - in Resolve.

Edius does nothing with them, no alpha - what have I forgotten over the last 15 years - ???

I've tried other file formats - all work within Resolve but not a sausage in Edius.

Project is set with +Alpha selected.

Just did a test in AE - made an uncompressed RGB+Alpha clip - does nothing in Edius but perfect in AE
I also made an HQX RGB+Alpha in AE - works in AE but not in Edius

HQX export from Edius fine with Alpha imports to AE and works - does nothing in Edius.

              Paul :-)

Did you ad alpha output after the last note in Resolve?
Also did you select export alpha in export settings in the delivery page? Not all codecs support alpha export so you need to chose one that supports it.
In Resolve you need to select individual clips in the export to get the option to export alpha, single clip does not offer it.

                    Hi:

See my Screenshots. I achieved the result (with Resolve-17 Studio Beta-6 and EdiusX(10.10) as follows:

                    1) Output alpha-channel in Resolve:
                    - RESOLVE: COLOR-TAB > (Define alpha input and output) > right mouse click into empty nodes area > Add Alpha Output > connect node with Output: Alpha-NodeOutput with Alpha-OutputPoint (see Screenshot 0-Nodes) >
                    - DELIVER-TAB: "Individual (!!!) clips" > Quicktime > Grass Valley > HQX > activate "Export Alpha" (See Screenshot-1).

                    2) Input alpha-clip in EdiusX: See Screenshot "2-AlphaClip above BlueMatte.jpg"

                    Regards kurt

Depends . If you use individual clips you can set alpha export and choose straight or premult.
I tested both and the exports worked fine in EDIUS.

Think the issue ca be user error. I tested in the latest version of EDIUS x and the Latest version of Resolve Studio 17.

I've done everthing exactly as everyone has described - I'm not exactly a novice - does not work in Edius 9.52.

And as previously stated Edius exported Alpha clips do NOT work when re imported into 9.52
