It looks to me that you have moved your video clip to a "title" track and back to a video track !?

Doing this will remove the audio from the video track.

Take the video clip from the "bin" and place it on a "AV" track, your audio will be there again.

i have managed to get the tv output and sound from timeline by opening a clip but if i move the clip on the timeline up or down i lose sound but video is still fine
even if i put it back on the same v track it will not play sound but vdo is fine

also do i need to install storm video to capture as i see if i try to use edius on the storm bay it only gives s-vdo or composite

how do i capture with edius with the firewire via storm 2

You do not need Storm to capture. In the Edius 4.xx folders, there is a folder name 'Bonus'...open that folder and there is an application there called 'DVCapture'....Use that for capturing, it captures long unbroken segments, plus you can capture from more than one source if you have a firewire adaptor card...(that is a card that you will buy seperatly and install in a free PCI slot)......I capture from 3 sources at a time,....works well...It also gives you control of the deck or camera, so you can start , stop, pause....in my case full control.....no need to touch the deck once you put in a tape..

and on the point of not getting sound when you move the video up, it may be because it is video only on that track.......you will need a track with both audio and video....that can be done in the setup just make your tracks both video and audio, or add a video /audio track from in the project, and when you open a project, go to the left side of the timeline in the audio section, and select..'clear all tracks'.......I am sure that the instruction have this in it...check with the manual.

Well, I am lost as to why you have such problems.

    I installed XP SP2 fresh,
had the DVStorm 2 card already connected to my MB,
    installed my sound card drivers,
    then restarted windows,
installed the latest drivers for my video card,
    then restarted windows,
    installed Edius 4,
    then restarted windows,
    updated to 4.6.
Then went ahead and installed any other applications....

Did NOT install any of those old drivers (as Edius has the latest)
You only need Edius or DVCapture to Capture.

That's all l did, works extremely well.
When all else fails, save all data and reinstall XP.

    Bill

4 Put a clip with audio on the time line
(because it is impossible to get any audio out if there is no audio on the timeline)

If you select an ohci preset there is no way you will get audio out of the storm.
You need the have a storm preset out of the storm.
I also want to bet that you get no video out of the storm also because the drivers are not installed.
Really simple no drivers for the storm = No working storm because xp will not know what to do with the device.

    Hope this helps.

    but the same problem

is it really possible to use storm with edius 4.51??
as clearly seen by your timeline screen shot, your video clip is missing the audio clip

here is a screen shot of a video clip that has audio and is showing a waveform

also, as seen by your project settings, you are missing the storm drivers, I can only see OHCI

Sound problems with Storm are almost always one of two problems.

    1. Do you have the aduio out of the storm physically connected via a 1/8" plug to the audio in of your sound card.
    2. Check in windows audio settings and make sure your audio in is not muted.

does the VU meter move when playing timeline?

do the clips on timeline show a waveform? is the audio enabled or muted on the left of timeline?

can we see a screen shot of your project settings

    example

thanks for the answers but so far i still cannot get sound from timeline.
i have set up edius 4.51 with storm 2 and all drivers have been installed but even if i set the output as canopus, still no sound, so i then installed edius on a machine with no storm and just a firewire in and still no sound
    what i am doung wrong?

i have tried many different configurations with no luck

What project setting are you in? If you're in a hardware project setting (not OHCI) then sound output will come from the selected hardware. Otherwise it will use the system sound device.
