  • Edius 8.53 crashing

    Hello everyone.
This morning one of my editors came to me with an issue of their edit bay continually crashing on them in a particular project. We edit on a network so they were able to open up the project and edit elsewhere with no issue. I looked at the project in question and it crashed on me as well. I was able to download the crash report and was wondering if someone would be able to look at it and decipher what the problem seems to be. All of the hardware on the PC looks to be fine, so I'm at a loss as to what the problem may be.

    Thank you in advance.
    -Paul

Is it just that particular project crashing on the computer or others also?

It seems that it was just this particular project. I loaded a couple of other projects and I could never get it to crash. This photographer uses a mixture of progressive and interlaced video on his timeline as we shoot 1080i on our ENG cameras but his GoPro and drone shoot in progressive. That has always seemed to cause issues for Edius.

              My apologies Anton.

Here is the new system report. I will add that the project runs fine now that it's been a few days and the PC has been restarted.

I see lots of issues with the mpeg plugin

11/16/2020 1:38 PM Application Error Faulting application name: EDIUS.exe, version: 8.5.3.3262, time stamp: 0x5a96706e
Faulting module name: CtsMpegPlugIn.tpi, version: 8.5.3.3262,

also, I would not use the swap file of 96GB on the D drive

your C drive is SSD, much faster for swap file, like 8GB is all you need
the D drive is a spinning drive

Thanks for looking at that Anton.

The "D" drive you reference is just our local save drive that people use to store their edit reels and what-not on. They don't pull video for editing from that drive so I'm not sure why it showed up in the report. I checked the video in the bin on that project and everything was on our edit server and nothing was from the two local drives. We edit on a network and the edit server is on a 10GB connection, so the speed should be fine. I'm also not aware of what plugin the CtsMpegPlugIn.tpi is. I looked in Edius and we don't have any other plugin other than what came with Edius workgroup 8. At least from what I can see...

Thanks again for looking at this.
