Many FCP users have opted to just buy PP CS3 (Mac) because it ships with Encore. A few FCP users have opted to switch to PP CS3 when Blue Ray out put is needed. They say the $799.00 is worth it. From what I read Encore works ok with FCP but PP CS3 works much better.
I just started creating Blu-Ray disks using Edius Broadcast V4.6, Procoder V3.05, and Roxio DVDit Pro HD. The drive I use is a SATA LG GGW-H20L which I picked up for under $400.00.
I've had some crashes and project corruptions with DVDit Pro HD even with very simple projects that required me to recreate my work, but for the most part the software is working.
I haven't looked at Encore, but I've heard of problems with it as well, so for now I'm sticking with what I have.
Since Blu-Ray drives require SATA connections, and there are 2 hidden SATA connectors on the Mac Pro mobo and the 2 bays still use IDE connectors, I was reading on a Mac forum how some people are having problems with it...so not sure if it's "proven" yet.

Well, when I want something, I tend to want it NOW, not two weeks later...
Anyway, if they actually do sell the drive at that price, it's one heck of a deal -- other companies sell BD-ROM drives at that price, and this is a 6x capable burner. Prices have dropped since I bought my drive, but the Now Direct price is still by far the lowest I've seen from any company that seems to be legit.

As I have stated many times, I have both of these and have removed DVDITPROHD from my system. Encore, at least for me, has been stable and
responsive. I have made 3 different versions of the same project within Encore without a crash using the same menus and using different encode
settings through PC3. Try that in DVDITPROHD. It will belly up quite quickly.
I have also gone back on each of these 3 projects and made changes after creating either a test disc or image file. No problems.
By the way, You can pick that burner up for $309 on Ebay.
I have the first Sony burner produced. I picked it up on Ebay when it was first released for $450. That was over 1 1/2 years ago when they were in the $1000 range. Got lucky!!
For what it's worth, I'm using EX1 - edit Edius HD, Procoder 3 Bluray presets (mpeg 2) then into Encore CS3 on my Laptop and burn to BD-R or RE in the laptops dual layer BD drive (Sony Vaio )
No crashes, with integration into Photoshop and AE for buttons, motion menu's etc - Encore seems pretty good and the results are amazing, just about to test the discs using the HDMI out from the laptop, into a number of large screens at the local shop in town - should be fun!
