  • Help with Buttons

Under Settings, Application Settings, Buttons I have removed unwanted buttons from the player window, record window and timeline, but the changes are not there the next time I open Edius. Once I have the selections made I hit apply and then okay. What am I doing wrong?

I have been editing with Edius since 1.5, but have not encountered this problem before. Thanks for your help.

Mark, I haven't messed with that feature before but after you do all your button removal from the windows and timeline are you creating a custom layout. That may help. Set your whole workspace (GUI) up the way you like it and then save as a custom layout. Perhaps that will make the button changes stick. Custom layouts are pretty cool. I have one for ceremony edits and one for highlight edits.

    Just a thought.

        Hi Philip,

        Thanks for the kind words.

I have made several custom layouts, much as you have described. With the buttons, I remove the ones I don't use and replace them or re-arrange the ones I do use.

For the last two months, since upgrading to 4.5, I have to redo the button arrangement everytime I open Edius and then it hit me, there must be a better way.

I just tried what you are talking about and the buttons stayed as I custom configured them. Must be something funky in your setup. It worked great for me. I am on V4.6 with the machine I tested it on. I just looked the changes to 4.6 up on the Canopus support site and found the following.

Fixed an issue where button assignments that were changed for the timeline window were not saved
Looks like it was a known issue and 4.6 fixed it. You may try updating to 4.6.

          Hope that helps.
