  • 4GB RAM now under Vista

I installed Vista SP1 today and noticed the full 4GB under 32 bit OS was seen. Good for EDIUS V5 and After Effects?? (well had to relate it to EDIUS somehow :))
    AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, RTX 3080, 64GB RAM, EDIUS X WG.

Absolutely - you can always play with EDIUS Neo's trial and see the effect of having 4GB.

But...the buffer won't get any larger. The advantage will be that there's less risk of a disk swap hammering your system's performance when you use the highest setting for the buffer. This is our holy grail.

Id be interested to see if more than 4 gigs would show up under SP 1.

Well this was a surprise to me, I hadn't heard anything about this happening. Is it just the reporting of the RAM or is the system now able to use it all? I thought it was a 32 bit limitation?

From what I see Windows is just seeing the ram not using it. Check your task manager.

            Straight from the horse's mouth:

Describes the fact that Windows Vista SP1 will report 4 GB of system memory on systems with 4 GB of memory installed. Before SP1, Windows Vista did not report how much installed memory.

That's kind of sneaky, IMHO... Both values are good to know - how much is installed and how much is addressable/accessible.

Did SP1 fix the disc write speed situation?
